Ray, since you inadvertently hit "Reply to Sender" instead of "Reply to
Group" on a subject being openly discussed, I'm reproducing both messages
for the benefit of others who might be interested:-

Ray wrote:- "I've never mentioned oral sex. Ever."

Bernie replied:- "Ah, so you were quite ignorant of the connection between
your "cunning linguist" reference and its actual origin?"

Ray then says:- "I already told you that there are many previous uses of
those two words. If you are attempting to attribute that to the Bard, do
explain. Others have tried and failed. Any association between the words I
wrote and a sexual act take place in your mind, Bernie. Not on paper, or
in this case on the screen."

I've no idea what you mean by my "attempting to attribute that to the
Bard", so I'll have to pass on your request for an explanation. But,
continuing your post:-

"Both words, cunning and linguist, are defined quite clearly."

Sure, Ray, *individually* they might be innocuous, but *as a phrase* they
have a specific meaning, of which you are either aware or not aware, which
is why I repeated my caution about using words (or, in this case, a
phrase) you don't fully understand -- your Geno-esque attempt to wriggle
around the issue notwithstanding.

As to the "You're always welcome in my mailbox" remark, I'm afraid I must
decline the invitation and insist that any comunication with you is kept
strictly in this open forum. (But to answer your question about the Art
Exhibition: Yes, it was quite gratifyingly successful.)

Bernie.

Bernard, get a life. Ray understands the jocular use of "cunning linguist"
(as does everyone here on the froup) as it is a comedic pun older than you
and me combined--and that's saying a lot. I know you've heard it a hundred
times, and prolly repeated it yourself. But thanks for giving me
attribution as a worthy newsgroup combatant.

<gak!>

I've yet to be bested;

Dude, you're not even worth bettering.

however, in all frankness, the competition is hardly a challenge.

Indeed.

Glad I could obfuscate that for you.

Glad I could edit that last bit for you.
