And yet not all newsgroups are suitable for minors. For example, I
*certainly* wouldn't send an 11- (or 14-) year-old girl to
alt.sex.bestiality.pictures.

Is there such a newsgroup?

When I last looked at the newsgroup directory, there were about
fifteen such groups.

I can assure you I never sent anyone there. Nor would I. I can also
assure you that every Internet beginner's book that I checked a the
library last week discusses newsgroups without a single mention of
suitability for children. I checked the first 5 in order. One made
no mention of newsgroups at all. The other 4 referred to them as
useful and one describes the people who use newsgroups as experts in
their fields based on the newsgroup name.

So, I guess we're all experts at being miscellaneous writers.

And you, scum-boy, are too stupid to know which groups are unsuitable
for children without checking at the library? You need a book to tell
you it's improper to introduce a child to a predominantly adult ng in
order to defend your nauseating self? You need to check a book to know
it's wrong to encourage adult ng participants, strangers, to email her?
Right. What scum you are. What utter lying scum you are.

I didn't advise anyone to go to any newsgroups at all. I simply gave
them some information on using the web to further their study. Same
thing any school does. Don't turn it into something it's not.

We have a magic teacher teaching a magic class, and not only does he
suggest some magic newsgroups, he even goes so far as to provide you
with internet access, free of charge. What's an 11-year-old going to
do, rebel?

You can drop the 11 year old bit, Alan. It's tired and it's a lie.
You know it, I know it and everyone else here knows it.

It's what you said. Fourteen minus three is eleven.

I can't help it if your lies get away from you and assume a life of
their own.

I already explained that but you chose to ignore it. Makes you the
dummy, Alan. Deal.

You didn't explain anything to me. You wouldn't start, because you
know how I'd like to get my teeth into you.

You made some vague reference to an explanation. Naturally I'm not
interested in doing your homework for you. It's your defence, you
present the evidence. If you have a case, make it, and be prepared to
take questions.

That's for you to deal with. I'm currently happy with the story as-is.
