And yet not all newsgroups are suitable for minors. For example, I *certainly*
wouldn't send an 11- (or 14-) year-old girl to alt.sex.bestiality.pictures.
Is there such a newsgroup?
When I last looked at the newsgroup directory, there were about fifteen such
groups.
I can assure you I never sent anyone there. Nor would I. I can also
assure you that every Internet beginner's book that I checked a the
library last week discusses newsgroups without a single mention of
suitability for children. I checked the first 5 in order. One made
no mention of newsgroups at all. The other 4 referred to them as
useful and one describes the people who use newsgroups as experts in
their fields based on the newsgroup name.
So to cut a long story short, you're saying library books haven't a
clue what they're talking about.
Not at all. I'm just making it clear that any child using the
library can find out about you and your bitter, twisted ways without
me telling them about it.
But you did tell them. You even gave out free internet access. How
much more suggestion does a child need?
You have no excuse. You know and you knew then how Usenet groups could
be, because you were involved then -- as you are now -- in exchanges
of great unpleasantness. Yet you still thought it appropriate to
introduce a girl of 11 to that sort of environment.
I've never introduced an 11 year old girl to any such thing. Why
does that stick in your mind so? Is that something you did and are
now ashamed of? Did you introduce 11 year old girls to this?
You did. The girl was 14 when she revealed herself, and she'd been
lurking for three years. Simple arithmetic.
No use trying to throw it back on me, Haddad. I don't meet up with
teenagers at the mall and go for coffee because they were so
"enthusiastic" to see me, and my wife isn't there.
That's you that does that. Tell me, what would your position be if
some elderly teacher was behaving that way towards your minor child?
Because the parents were never aware you were meeting their child out
of school, were they?
Oh, they were out of school, all right. Graduated, they were. You're
pretty desperate to continue your farce, Hope. Almost as bad as
Stan. Bet you never thought you'd be compared to him.
