I find it impossible to keep on track and actually FINISH a novel or<...>
feature film, and I think doing NaNoWriMo, where we can all bitch and
moan about the deadline and word count - but at the end come out of it
with a complete work of fiction - would be excellent. I just need some
other brave participants.
For those who don't know what it is: NaNoWriMo is National Novel
Writers Month.
50,000 words in 30/31 days. It's a short novel, but it's a whole
novel, and the deadline really pushes you to get it done.
Anyone up for it?
I've seen other writer's groups talking about this. Does it happen on a
particular date? Or do you get a group and pick a start date? (It has
seemed that people are doing this all the time in the other groups.)
I've been toying with what would make me let go and just write. I do like
deadlines. I also like using shame (ha!) or, a better way to describe it,
peer pressure. (I wasn't reading much in the past new-parent years until I
signed up on GoodReads.)

The month of November. Starts Nov 1 and ends Nov 30. You're supposed to
register, post your writing results regularly and act as a support group
member. If you take it seriously, you can pump out a lot of pages which then
only need revision before submitting to publishers.

There's a decent book out by Chris Baty called _No Plot? No Problem._ that
sort of explains the philosophy, etc. It's an entertaining read.
