once you click on a thread, Google post listings should at least
default to "sort by date" instead of their stupid "sort by reply".

but at the very least, since you're logged into your Google account,
it should give you the option to toggle the default sort to that "sort
by date" mode instead of requiring you to manually do it every time
you visit a thread with more than ten posts.

not to mention that it should allow you to list the most recent posts
in a thread at the top instead of requiring you to scroll to the
bottom everytime after you sort by date.

the state of software in the 21st century is puzzling at best.

"utter stupidity" comes to mind.

of course, "purposely stifling" is quite a nice fit as well.
