It's not a bad prize.
I'd say there are two problems with it as a prize. The first is
that "feedback and advice" is unquantified. It could be a useful,
in-depth critique with plenty of constructive ideas on which to build,
it could be as little as "Hmmm, very nice, but don't give up the day
job." Since there's no entry fee, it might be worth a punt, but unless
you can establish the credentials of the journalist *as a giver of
feedback and advice*, then it's a shot in the dark.

The second problem, which I suspect prompted Stan slightly more, is that
you can't spend it in Sainsbury's.

Yes, I do prefer to be paid for my writing, but what prompted my response was the fact that, when I desire feedback and advice, there are people right here in this ng who possess both the credentials and willingness to provide both. I have, in fact, asked for and received the benefit of their expertise in the past without having to "win" it as a prize.

Plus, your entry for the prize == free content for scribble***.net.

The "prize" is probably a fine incentive for people who either would've provided free content in any case or just needed a slight nudge, a possible potential maybe worthwhile perk thrown into the pitch.
