At this point all
the Jesus material is pretty questionable in terms of historicity, the
value in it is the value in it, which some find higher than others.
There are simple statements which, no matter who makes them or is
claimed to have made them, ring true in light of experience. And of
course the opposite also applies.

I wonder what has led you to think "Love your enemies" rings true in
the light of experience.

Note that you have made the assumption that I consider that particular
statement to ring true in light of experience and, since I've not
previously mentioned it specifically, that implies that you think I'm
a "christian" who takes the whole hairball as holy writ. I am not a
"christian", in fact most Christians piss me off because (a) they are
not, and (b) it implies that Jesus was some kind of Christ (which I
strongly doubt, I consider him an also-ran in that category).

Nonetheless a familiar chewtoy is handy when one's teeth need
exercise.

The sane answer, to madness, is insanity.
