Shuddup.
No, I am not from NY. Let me rephrase that.
Shut Up.
Pffft!
Let me rephrase that:
Pffft!
As long as at least one NY Team is losing in a truly historic manner, all is right with my world.
And, who can blame you for lunging for whatever baseball crumb you can latch onto?
What do you care? Your team is dancing into the playoffs. Which makes it truly beyond bearing for the Mets fans. They're now found statistics that 20% of all Yankee fans have a felony arrest record, vs. only 13% of all Mets fans, which I don't see what's the big deal about that, it lines up nicely with SEC football stats.
Simple enough explanation for that. Yankees fans are from the Bronx. Mets fans are from Queens. I mean, puleeze.
Are you truly doing a happy dance at this historic free fall?
Yep.
That is
the mark of a true baseball fan. It is not enough that your team succeeds. The team you hate must have something akin to a meteor falling on the mound to make a perfect season.
And, if the team you hate is the Mets, it's winning the lottery. With earlaps.
People say the National Game is dead. Say that young boys don't play baseball in pastures and streets any more. I say as long as MILLIONS of young, illiterate, Philadelphia boys, but capable of firing off some really fine shots, can find their way to nypost.com and nymet.com (the official site! You can buy the player's wives cookbooks!), then the game is alive. And thriving.
I found it interesting to watch the Yanks series against the Rays. The Rays' stadium was half empty. Try getting Yankees tix, even when they're losing. My daughter and her b/f managed to score seats for the playoffs opener at the Stadium. Cost them about $150 for 2 seats. Came with two little oxygen bottles and a box of Kleenex for wiping their bloody noses.
This would be a way fun time to be in Queens. Just sit in an outdoor cafe, nurse a beer, and watch the keening and scourging.
Yeah, that would be funner than fun. Except for the being in Queens part.
Donna (We finished 3rd, but still . . . somehow . . . life's good.)
Shoot low. Wasn't that Jefferson Davis' motto?
