The battle of the bulge

The FDA has just approved a "revolutionary" weight loss drug called Alli,
which unlike other diet aids, works directly in the digestive system.
Apparently the developers thought it would be wise to recommend that pill
takers rely on eating a sensible diet and exercise as their primary means of
losing weight (what a novel concept!). To ensure that pill takers radically
cut their fat intake, thus doing what they should have been doing before
Alli went on the market, there are some side effects built in, one being
"loose stools and/or gas with an oily discharge." The manufacturers even
went so far as to recommend that people wear dark pants and take a change of
clothes to work "just in case." Carrying along a can of air freshener might
be a good idea too, although that's a personal choice, not an official
recommendation.

We live in a sick country.
