Is there something in the German character that abhors unoccupied

As an antihyphenist, I admire the Germans' efficiency in ridding
themselves of the extraneous characters.

They didn't do too great a job ridding themselves of Hitler.

They liked Hitler more than they did hyphens.

As is sometimes said, virginity is a disease with a simple cure.
