Re: I'M DONE! Now what do I do?

GIGO, innit. "Ken" <kc7rad@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> fed this in:

Yes, I'm a newbie author so please forgive any sins I may unknowingly
commit! :-)

I have several works-in-progress but last Saturday, I just made up my
mind that I would start and finish a piece, from inception to
completion. And I did it! It is an interesting first-person
speculative fiction piece, weighing in at about 1400 words. I managed
to work in apathy, drugs, politics, employment, education, altruism,
Ray Bradbury and Ayn Rand. (whew)

I walked through the Writer's Guide, checked websites and identified
about five places which may be interested. When the university presses

open in the fall, I could submit to almost 25 different places.

Now, do I send letters off to the five places I have identified? Wait
for the university presses to open? Find a critique website and submit

it there?

Suggestions, anyone???

TIA!
Ken Linder

Save yourself a lot of pain and just bin it.

Usenet is, of course, a *** black hole.
No *** can come within its event horizon
(more accurately I suppose I should call it
the total nonevent horizon) without being sucked in.
Some people like to kid themselves that
it is not a total waste of their time
to hang out in newsgroups but
unless you truly do think that
being called a fucking idiot
by some arsehole like Dr Zen is self-improving,
it's as useless as it's possible to be
in a world that has made useless an artform.
