2) High energy prices have been hurting US Economic growth because
they cause both bidness and consumer spending cutbacks.

They cause business and consumer spending increases too.

Oh, dear (r). Well, yes, in energy bills.

Some people sell energy. Like Con Ed. Or Exxon. They pay their
employees, and their employees spend money on all of the things that
people spend money on. Diapers. Swimming pools. Airline tickets. Thus
adding to economic growth. Also, Toyota has been selling lots of
Priuses.

If you find yerself having to spend more and more on energy bills, you
are very likely to be forced to cut back on other things, things that
promote the economy.

If you find yourself having to spend more and more on baseball bats,
you are very likely to be forced to cut back on other things, things
that promote the economy. Like snorkels.

Isn't it funny how snorkels promote the ecomedy, while baseball bats
don't?

3) So, Sparky, some Wall Street tails wagged expectantly at the news of
the price drop, hoping for an economic turn around. (<--- Dow creeps up)

If the markets were down, one might say energy prices fell because
global growth is slowing and (projected) demand is decreasing.

One might, but one wouldn't be making much sense, now would one?

That's neither here nor there. It's the sort of thing people _do_ say,
and it makes as much sense as most financial journalism.
