Ray Haddad goes:

But PJ's books will no doubt enthrall millions of students at least as
long as it takes them to read the book. Their attention span on that
subject is likely to be greater reading PJ's book than yours.

I don't for a moment doubt it.

Alan hasn't ever said anything to the contrary, Ray. He has helped me with
research numerous times, and once talked me into turning down a book when I
asked his opinion about it. And when he found out I wrote the cookbook, he
offered to help promote it to the ex-pat audience in Belgium. I sent him a
copy and he wrote an article, in which he said "How lovely to have a
cookbook written by somebody who can write."

You told me that and I believe you. I used something he wrote to
illustrate to anyone who cares about this that his style of writing
as he does here doesn't come close to being suitable for the
audience you strive to reach.

And yes, when I'm wrong, he does not hesitate to correct me. Which is one of
the things I appreciate about him.

It wasn't wrong, PJ, it was inaccurate in its reason for existing as
a judging point. Light does play a huge part in impressionism as it
does in all art. You were right. It wasn't, as Alan noted, the only
trait of that art form.
