On Wed, 15 Feb 2006 16:28:28 -0700, I said, "Pick a card, any card"
and Lorrill Buyens <buyensl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> instead replied:
Had she been constantly seeking that perfect new job, she mightn't've had enough
time or effort to devote to her *old* job, which might've led to her being fired
*sooner* than the budget cut. Besides, there's no such thing as perfection in
our imperfect human world.
I never advocate looking for the new job while at work. That's just
plain stupid but I suppose some people might take it that way.
Typing resumes and printing them out can be done at home. The Post
Office carries them from the job seeker's desk to the employer's in
basket. All that can be done outside of working hours. Phone calls
left to answering machines at home can be answered during a break
from the work day or outside of working hours.
Looking around for the better paying job is essential to people who
are critically funded in their personal lives. Living from paycheck
to paycheck is easier with a larger paycheck.
If a person is satisfied in their work both by amount of pay and the
work itself, there may not be a need to seek other employment. It
depends on how big or cushy they've made their safety net. My
comments were directed towards a specific individual here who has
bemoaned her circumstances which are directly attributed to her need
for income and her recent loss of employment. In the future, I
suggested that she keep sending out her resume to other potential
employers and I've been catching flack for that from the solidarity
of the left wing hysterics choir.
No surprise there, Lorrill. It's what they do. If anyone dare
suggest that the problem lies within the complainants power to fix,
they go bonkers.
