Re: Any Adobe Acrobat Mavens out there?

When you went to Kinko's, you probably opened the document in what is called
"Adobe Acrobat Reader", which is what most people have. The reader is just
that, only a reader, and does not allow you to make changes to your PDF
files. This is usually a GOOD thing, as it allows you to distribute PDF
files of manuscripts, etc., without worrying too much about someone else
making changes.

If you are the creator of the PDF files, you should be able to put it into
your own machine and open it with the original Acrobat software and change
it. Or, if you used a utility that allows you to convert a Word doc to PDF,
then you have to go back to the original Word doc, make your changes, and
re-export it as a PDF.

There ARE programs on the market that allow you to open and edit a PDF file
which you did not create, but I have not tried any of them and don't know
how effective they are.

So, in answer, that IS the way it works, and you didn't get an idiot for a
technician.
