I wouldn't overexcite myself with the accountability of parliamentary
governments. I'm a citizen of a nation with an untouchable government
and a resident of another with another.

In the UK, you can get elected on about 37-38 per cent of the vote.
That's barely more than a third of the people who bother voting!

And the alternative is a pack of cunts so venal that even their mothers
probably vote Labour.

We had, what was it, sixteen years of a despised government, which did
everything it could to destroy the fabric of our nation, and nearly
succeeded. It shafted our economy, created an enormous gap in wealth
between rich and poor, ran our education and health systems into the
ground and we could not get rid of the fuckers or change even one word
of their legislation without practically dying for it in the streets.
And when we did get rid of them, we replaced them with liars who said
"Judge us on these promises", which they broke as quickly as they
could. The sooner we get "None of the above" on the ticket, the better.
