I stringly suspect the reason is the abundance of other choices to pass
time in the truck, satellite radio, CDs, MP3, and cell phones.
Interesting that Scott would leave out PPCs since more drivers are using
them.
In my viewor
the CB should be used like a tool, all conversations more than a sentence
two should take place on other channels beside ch 19.
I wouldn't go that far because sometimes the "talkers" provide the most
information.
the guys inserting the F-word between every second
word of what may be a sentence are partially to blame for declining CB
utility.
Very good point. Yes that is a turn off and once someone used the f-word so
much I asked if his mother knew he talked like f-n that and all sorts of
other drivers started poking fun at him.
That was when I was still pulling a flatbed and I ended up talking to a
tanker driver face to face. He asked me if I heard the guy cussing so much
and I said I was the one that asked him so and so and he got a big kick out
of it.
By the second or third time you key up speaking to the same otherwhy
person, it needs to go to another channel unless there is a real reason
everyone needs to hear about this conversation.
No, I think all they really need to do is leave a gap before they key up so
someone else can easily break into the conversation if they want.
I'm in and out of one auto plant with a large number of first-timeby
delivering truck drivers. Lost trucks are wandering around all over the
neighborhood and 99% of them never turn on their CB. They are surrounded
other drivers volunteering to help them get to the exact right entrance tokeyboard
the plant and the vast majority of drivers would rather pick up the cell
phone and ask some overnight disptacher 7 states away or type on a
to try and figure it out.
sad story. I've also seen where the busness someone is going to provides
information on how to get there on there own phone number and yet people
still call their dispatcher instead.
Scott
Well Scott didn't put down too many people with his post but he still top
posted (putting his reply on top) when that wasn't necessary.
