Re: Oil - fuel prices - reality

Just before the north slope of Alaska started producing oil the US petroleum
reserves were about 25 billion barrels of oil. In 2000, the US petroleum
reserves were about 25 billion barrels of oil. During that same time the US
used 75 billion barrels of oil., about half of which was from the US.

You are like many naive students believing the last thing you heard or read.
That's why it's important to read experts on both sides of issues and to do
this over time so you can see which experts and which points are reliable
and which fade over time. I can point you to better peak oil sites than
energy bulletin but you aren't interested in the topic you just want the
first entry from google that you can use to say what you wanted to say
before the topic was brought up.

http://www.theoildrum.com/ is more data driven with short entries and links
to more details in favor of the peak oil argument. Remember peak oil in the
US is being enforced by the Dems for the last few decades. That's very
different than the normal meaning of peak oil. The libs are less concerned
with the source of our energy than in getting everyone to revert back and
live more like the filthy hippies they remember fondly from their youth. If
they can use global warming, or peak oil, or population bombs, or hidden
planets that's what they will say is the cause.

Remember these are the same Dems trying to pass the largest agriculture
subsidy bill at the same time farmers are receiving record prices for crops.
BTW, they want to "fix" health insurance with the same skill and wisdom
that's led them to run a political nominating primary in the model fashion
we see in the news.

Those who have an attention span longer than a lab rat who really want to
know what is going on with oil and prices; for those who want to actually
learn something and stop participating in a war between fuzzy left wing
moonbats and right wing screech monkeys, I would suggest this article:

http://www.energybulletin.net/45331.html

It is multisourced and gives the debate as it is between the experts that
actually have some clue concerning the realities involved.

It does not mention the effects of oligopoly and monopoly, nor does it
address the effects of speculation on prices. But it does present a very
good analysis of the actual _SUPPLY_ of oil and the timing of "peak oil".
The _real_ stuff.
