yeah east coast infrastructure is all bad and in need of rehab. but
federal funds have just run out. so anyway ya want to be a dumb truck
driver/fleet owner? with all the deregulation and certification for
the bacon-davis act that no one really abides to it. but if your
caught not abideing to it your gonna get hurt big time. it has to do
with the prevailing wages. unless you think you're going to pay your
guys union scale and benefits when your tandem or tri-axle dump is
only getting between 55-65 dollars per hour.then your drivers will be
making more take home then you. but hey if yah put plows on the front
end ya can make some blood money waiting fer the snow. note todays
date 1.31.08 D.O.T. has not had one call out yet for plowing.and if
it did you will get paid by the state in 3 months or so.need i ramble
furthur about the glorious dump trucking buisiness? just my
expieriences and opinions.p.s. theres plenty of slightly used trucks
for sale. it's a never ending cycle. some guys go out of buisiness and
some new guys come in. but hey, what the hell do i know?
peace and good luck,
.
