No, I'm a generalist, I've taken math, science, business and
humanities courses. I do have a basis to compare from.


Without that ability, how do you know if the "medical
discovery of the week" is a phony or not? How do you know if what you
read is real or impossible?

The best way to know is to refer to reliable sources,
not to attempt your own data analysis.

Ah, maybe that works for you. I prefer to try to determine for myself
how the research was done before I believe anyone's "results". I had
this part time job a couple of years ago working for a guy who would
write papers based on one data point, and the weird thing is, he'd get
these papers published in "respectable" scientific journals. None of
his "experiments" could ever be reproduced with the same result.

So my question for you is: exactly WHAT these days goes for a
"reliable source"?
