road rule #1 - never get in the way of something that has wheels that
weigh more than you do.

Law, common sense, and any reasonable road rules _I_ know about ALL say
don't start (big truck, 4-wheeler, or on foot!) across a railroad track
unless you are sure you can get all the way safely across without stopping
again. (That driver, if placarded in Michigan, committed a felony.)

Come to think of it, there is one railroad crossing in Rock Island Illinois
that says "Do not stop on tracks."

If you pull up to the stop sign shortly after the tracks, your trailer will
still be on the tracks, so you have to run the stop sign to obey the first
sign!
