I have a friend who just landed a great driving job. The place just let him

Was wondering what recourse he may or may not have to try to get this job
back?

As an afterthought, you may want to check out http://truck.net (no www)
Check out the "roundtable" bulletin board and the legal department.
Look for "STAA". This body of law covers employment of truckers and various
conditions for which they cannot be terminated.

"Opie" is their legal resident expert on the STAA as this is the only thing
he works on. You may want to run this by him for his opinion.

Was he released while in orientation? In many companies you are not
considered an employee while in orientation. If he was released after being
an actual employee and got a paycheck, then he may have legal recourse.
That may depend on the state laws. Best to consult an actual attorney.
