Re: Make Coffee in Truck?

Yeah, I like the drip coffee for the same reasons. larger batch size means
one batch makes multiple cups. It's really just as big of a hassle to brew
1-2 cups as 10-12 cups. I always make 10 cups. My home drip maker brews
into a thermal carafe. I brew a fresh pot, drink 1-2, and the rest remains
in the airtight carafe. The coffee geeks may shudder, but I can nuke a cup
from the carafe and it is nearly as good as freshly brewed, even the next
day.

I have given this a lot of thought, and while some are a fan of French

I would agree if you are talking about a full pot, but in my experience,
drip makers just don't do a good job at one or two cup batches. I can also
tell you that I was really disappointed in my French press when I first
got
it. I got that nice frothy appearance but it didn't taste very good. Then
someone told me about using a coarse grind coffee. If we are going to be
using 5-8 cups of coffee I prefer it in the drip machine, but if I just
one
a cup or two I find it much better in the press.

But is all the hassle of boiling water for a couple of cups coffee
worth it? I use an el cheapo brand(sunbeam I think) I bought at
Wally-World & have already got my monies worth. When it dies, or clogs
up or whatever I'll fork over another $10 for a new one. When I make a
pot I always make enough for a thermos & its cheap enough I can dump
whatever I don't drink. Besides, most drivers I know drink more than
1-2 cups just to get started.
