Just a little heads up to everyone, Colorado Govenor Ritter today
signed legislation that sets the minimum fine for failing to chain up
at $500.00.
Another Gov. who has continued the long standing tradition of screwing
truckers in Colorado. Some recommendations, don't buy fuel in
Colorado, first off every state around us has it cheaper, don't take
loads to Colorado during the winter, avoid this state. Maybe when the
businesses can't get their goods, the state will wake up. In the
meantime, you'll have more money in your pockets.
I hate snow, ice, and anything else that causes a loss of traction. I would
rather chain up than end up in the ditch or kill someone.
If you don't want to chain up then park the truck and wait for the storm to
blow over and let the highway department plow the road and toss the sand.
Last year on Donner pass traffic was stopped to clear a wreck and while we
were waiting the conditions got worse. Traffic started to move slowly and
then it slowed. As I slowed I saw my trailer start to slide into the left
lane. Luckily I saw this in time and was able to pull to the right and
forward enough to avoid smashing the car. In spite of not being told to do
so, I tossed a drag chain on my trailer.
When things got worse still I stopped again and tossed on the rest of the
iron.
