Just make sure if your using a D104 on it thats its grounded, It can be

I have a Johnson Viking III (I think it may need tubes), My current
basestation is a Browning Golden Eagle MKIV.
The Browning Golden Eagle was one of the best basestations ever made.
Couple it with the lollypop and talk forever. I think it was the first to
"Ping". If you heard the ping you knew what was talking to you. Another
good little basestation was the Lynx. Put up a Wilson Lazer Beam and
watch
your CB friends drool. Just make sure yyou can tie the Lazer down if the
wind gets stiff. Ooops, better get off the mic and let someone else key
up.

Oh boy, someone else who remembers the old "Browning Ping."
It was because they used a separate transmitter and receiver where the
receiver wouldn't shut off until after the "Ping."
I do not remember if they were sideband or not.
