If you are fully loaded heading down the north slope, (at 80,000lbs)
don't go much over 15 mph. Usually those that do have all kinds of
smoke pouring out of their brakes. If you are at 70,000, don't go
much over 20 mph. 60,000 and down you can start pushing the speed
limit.
I think you need to get your brakes checked. 15mph is a little slow in my
experience. I've hauled heavy loads over 100,000lbs down 6° grades and have
gone 25 mph with no problem and no smoke. I went down I80 - I84 into Odgen
Utah with 110,000lbs on at 25mph and had no smoke and no engine brake and
that's a long grade. But if you feel you need to go 15 mph then go ahead and
do it. But I think with 5 axles with the brakes adjusted right you shouldn't
see any smoke at 35mph if you do it right.
