Why do some truckers park in the driveways and along the roads next to
truck stops when there are plenty of slots IN the truck stop? At a

the stop and yet it was only half full.
Being fairly new to this game, I've not been able to figure out any
reason but I'm sure there is a good one since so many drivers do it.
One reason might be to avoid being hit by another truck... seems to be
lots of guys who don't seem to want to continue driving all the way
until the brakes are set.
Another might be difficulties getting in and out of the parking lot.
I've spent as much as an hour waiting to enter a truck stop, and
another half hour waiting in line to get out.
And, in Barstow for instance, I used to park across the street from the
J in front of Tommy's because I was only going into the J to grab a
shower and was heading out to the LA area in a few hours. No sense
fighting my way into and out of that J and taking up a space a 20'
motorhome might desperately need...
ISTM, truck stops are often the playpens of lots of idiots. I spent as
little of my time in their lots as possible.
