Sorry, but that is incorrect. The part that of present day Canada that
repelled
an invasion attempt during the rebellion was Quebec. The part of
present
day
Canada that repelled American invasion attempts during the War of 1812
was
Upper
Canada, and at the time of the Fenian Raids it was the Province of
Canada.

I don't have the time Dave to follow through on the history of Canada so
I'll cede that point to you.

You had the time to claim authoritatively that it was called British North
America, but thanks for agreeing to the facts.

LOL....some of us here have to work Dave.

The Fenian
Brotherhood were radically pro Irish & bent on Irelands independence
from
Britain. At that time the US was somewhat pissed at the Brits for
their
support of the confederacy in the American souths fight for
independence,
so
while they didn't actually give their formal approval they didn't
really
care what happened to British North America. If the Fenians invaded
them.......so what.

The fact remains that it was another invasion from south of the border
with the
US. You guys keep yapping about how we have been leeching off your
defence,
but you are the only ones who have presented a real threat.

Once again Dave show us the threat we pose to you! As I've said the last
meaningful action against your country was 140 years ago. Unless you
count
being invaded by upwards of 90,000 draft dodgers. Give it a break Dave

The last one was indeed 140 years ago, but how many times have you read
comments
from people in this news group alone that if they US wants our gas and oil
they
will just come up and take it.

Getting a little paranoid Dave? If you take to heart the blatherings on this
NG then you have a serious threat. Call your equivalent of the FBI & tell
them threats are being made on MTT to invade Canada & see what happens

To a hard core liberal like you that would be the case. However the real
facts in a liberal rag are usually hidden in the back pages where the
average reader doesn't have the patience to pursue.

OTOH there are the right wing rags that simply fill the front pages with
lies,
and then some people accept them as proof. Just look at the lies
involved in
the current war on terrorism and the invasion of Iraq. The media that you
accuse
of being liberal, as if that is a bad thing, rejected the claims about
WMDs in
Iraq and reported on secret prisons. After several years of looking for
WMDs,
Bush finally admitted that they weren't any, they didn't expect to find
any, and
that he had acted on faulty intelligence. Just this week they admitted to
the
secret prisons. Those bastards in the liberal media had been reporting
lies all
that time, but then the lies turned out to be true.

To a leftists that would seem the case, to a normal individual not so

Case in point; Recently
the left wing rag "MPLS Star Trib" Ran an article on its front page about
an
African women being deported. The entire column on the front page was
dedicated to how great a mother, neighbor, etc she was. Curious as to why
they would deport someone this wonderful I turned to the rest of the
article on page 8. It wasn't until the last paragraph they admitted she
was
being given the boot for a felony drug conviction she skipped town on.
Need
more example go to their archive & search for "Kathleen Soliah".

Is is truly a left wing or far left wing media source, or is it just one
of
those media sources that dares to disagree with the lies from the extreme
right?
While searching for information I often come across right wing sites who
use
inflammatory headlines that don't match the story. For instance, last
night I
was looking for reports about Israeli carpet bombing. There were some with
such
headlines but nothing in the story.

No Dave they are left wing rags with an agenda. Once again Dave don't
obfuscate facts with your liberal bias. The MPLs STAR TRIB is considered a
mainstream media. The internet not nescessarily so.
