This is exactly how permanent critics respond. If you treat suspicious
events as if they could be the initial stages of a terrorist attack it's a
gross over-reaction. If you assume those same events are harmless, you
aren't paying attention to terrorists probing your defenses and systems. If
you aren't perfect, which in this case means only responding to what proves
to be terrorist attacks, then you aren't any damn good.
The same people howl when anyone tries to "collect the dots" and howls for
not "connecting the dots". It's because they have no responsibility that
they indulge in their luxurious habit of making evaluations only after the
fact. It takes no skill after the teenager who mailed the white powder has
confessed to huff and feel superior to the secretary and the beat cops that
respond to the potential anthrax attack. There is no penalty for the Monday
Morning Quarteback for assuming, once all the details are known, that the
harmless white powder was harmless white powder. First responders don't
have the luxury of watching as an office building full of people go about
their business assuming that the white powder will turn out to be corn
starch. The only reasonable approach when the potential threat is
discovered is to do assume the worst until it's proven otherwise.
The same people that were using a late response to hijacked airliners by the
nearest F-16s as proof of incompetence are also the same people that cluck
their tongues when someone dispatches F-16s to investigate a request from an
airline crew or air traffic control. The same people that used the attcks
on Sept 11 as evidence of our incompetence are the same people that dismiss
the grandiose plans of captured jihadsts if they are arrested before they
kill their bunch of Americans. It's already started with the latest bunch
of terrorist arrested around London. The fact they were arrested before
they completed their mission makes it even easier for permanent critics to
claim the terrorist plan wouldn't have worked.
The permanent critics of Western Civilization don't think it is worth
defending and have a very long history of dismissing every enemy it has
faced. The same people that were calling the war in Afghanistan as nothing
but "blindly lashing out" after Sept 11 are now the ones calling Afghanistan
the only war worth fighting, and all else must be ignored. My new sig
captures well the truth about the Left.
In short it's none of Dave Smith's business, his way has turned Canada into
an invisible country with no impact, and yet the jihadis are willing to
attack Canada and kill whomever they desire. His country, following his
liberal ideas, has abandoned it's own defense and soverignty for years.
Their current government is trying to turn around the liberal Titanic but
it's been a very long time that the previous Liberals have been steering for
the ice fields in their socialist boat. Under the previous two governments
Canada so retreated from Canada that the Russians and others were running
more soverignty patrols in what used to be Canada. There was real danger
that former bits of Canada wouldn't be considered Canada because there was
no defense by Canada of their territory. It's like a homeowner that stops
mowing his grass and doesn't object when the neighbor starts using part of
your yard. If you do that long enough, you lose ownership of that part of
your yard by adverse possession.
That's the result of following the prescriptions of people like him. His
views have managed to make a barely visible country even less visible and
more dependent on others which leads to more and more resentment. Nobody
but somone that hates the USA would advise we likewise become weaker and
more dependent on people we think are evil. Canadians don't like their
economy being 90% dependent on trade with the US and they don't like being
98% dependent for their national security on people they consider cowboys,
but they have lived beside "the police station" for so long they think there
is no danger, except of course their ever present fear of invasion by the
US.
If his views were important to him and others like him they would take every
opportunity they are presented with to avoid making the key contribution to
world affairs. The most powerful military in the world would be the
coalition of Euroweenies and Canada. That coalition would have bought the
hardware and conducted the training necessary so that they could srping into
action on a moment's notice so the big clumsy Americans wouldn't asked to do
it. Yet if you look at what they do, not what they say, they have avoided
making the decisions which would allow them to become the "go-to guys" when
the heat is on. They do less and less, which cause them to be more and more
resentful, which causes them to make ever more outrageous charges, but it
never causes them to accept responsibility.
Ask a Canadian soldier serving in Afghanistan if the liberals and the
socialists are on his side. Ask a long time Canadian soldier how much
respect he received from other Canadians before Sept 11. Just like the US
liberals were the big reason our soldiers were treated like stray dogs
during the 1970s, and our military was left to rust until Reagan came along.
The lilberals have had little if any obstacle to making a passive and
socialist Canada into a more passive and more socialist Canada. I doubt all
the good intentions of the current government will outlast the will of the
commie-libs to surrender to the enemy at the earliest possible convenience.
A lot of clear thinking police, and soldiers in Canada know the truth about
this enemy and their view is 180 degress different from the Monday Morning
Quarterbacks in eastern Canada and running the CBC.

The mainstream Left has demonstrated clearly which side of the battle to
preserve Western civilisation and freedom it is on. The Left, in any
recognisable form, is now the enemy. -- Stephen Pollard
