Re: Proven Oil Discovery

Let's make September "National Ignore Roger The Queer Month".

1) Don't respond to RTQ.

2) Don't make excuses to respond to RTQ. If he posts something stupid,
just post your own opinion on the matter, without referring to him.

Address the person asking the question, don't give them reason to think
you're as whacked as RTQ.

3) If someone does respond to RTQ, killfile them.

Until then, please to not repost RTQ message bodies and hyperlinks. It
only takes a second to delete his trash, please do not do him the favor of
re-posting it.

ps. anyone posting more than once or twice a day to RTQ needs to switch to
decaf.

Chevron released today information about their deep water drilling
efforts
in the Gulf of Mexico. The reserves are thought to be at least 50% of
the
countries already reserves. They say it's the biggest discovery since
Alaska. Chevron is in this block with 2 other smaller companies.
However,
the experts say don't expect the country to reduce foreign imports or
any
reducing in price at the pump.

There are other companies out there doing deep water drilling and have
struck oil also. BP is one of them. What I'm afraid of this new oil
field
will slow down any progress in finding an alternative fuel. Hopefully
thou, it will slow down the stupid idea of E-85 and other quick fixes
that
really don't work.

Don't get E-85 confused with ethanol oxygenates. The oxygenates have
replace MTBE which is very bad for our health. Oxygenates are used in
gasoline in cities or areas that need a clearer burning fuel to help
that
area meet the clean air act. IIRC it's 2% by weight and 10% by volume.
Some have tried 20% but I think they'll rethink this idea because too
much
ethanol will cause another pollutant, Ozone. Los Angeles is the leader
in
finding and using clearner burning fuel including diesel. 2 years ago
all
the companies in CA had to get rid of MTBE and use ethanol. It sounds
easy
but it's not. And you can bet that some of the higher prices for
gasoline
are because of this enormous cost.

Ethanol can not be shipped in the pipeline. It will collect the water
in
the low areas and turn the blend into a mess. Texaco learned this in
Las
Vegas when their large storage tanks were not protected from rain. They
had to steam clean every underground storage tank in So. NV and AZ, and
UT. It took them about a year to do the job and they lost alot of
retail
money.

Just remember what ethanol does for the water if you feel you have
water
in your tank. Don't go buy those expensive water removal fuilds you can
buy in the auto store. Just get some ethanol at the hardware store,
it's
what is in those expensive bottles anyway. And if your area uses
ethanol
in the gasoline during the winter you don't have water anyway. Just
some
tips to save you money.

Good post, but lets not forget Bio-diesel. For a lot of people, it is
ahead
of dino diesel. Even though they do not have an easy way to use it in
2007
engines yet, it still looks like it is picking up sales.
