UPS buying up companies?

I've seen recently overnite trailers being hauled by ups trucks. One just
parked next to me that was clearly an overnite truck and displays a sticker
showing "operated by UPS freight. Yesterday I saw one hauling pups, with
the second unit being from "motor cargo".
What's going on? UPS eliminating the competition?
Also, the sticker shows a number reading "VCC-F-33" What the hell is "VCC"?
This is right below the USDOT number.
