Re: How Do You Deal With *** Truckers?

Im not a trucker...yet (Will be in Feb 07). However, I am a Cop. Let
me enlighten you all a bit on a thing or 2. First, I saw one reply
that said "If he kept it up, I'd call the Police." Well, here in
Florida that would most likely be the Florida Highway Patrol. Don't
waste your breath. FHP is LUCKY to have a Trooper every 50 miles or so,
and those Troopers are more than likely busy working a wreck.

Second, if some idiot pulls a Semi onto my ass at speed, I slow down.
If the idiot wants to escalate the situation, I'll stop the car. Then
I go back to his truck, where he's mad as hell and ready to fight. I
then badge the *** and let him know he's under arrest. If he still
wants to be an ***, he gets TASER'ed, or gets his ass beat (Ive
done this more than once off duty in my personal car). I know you all
dont have the luxury of badging and TASER'ing the idiot, so the best
bet is to call his company and let them know what the situation is. I
know you guys take it in the pants when your ticketed, therfore more
times than not I'll talk with the driver if its not a big violation
instead of writing him. If the guy pulls an attitude, I still forgo
the ticket because calling their home office and letting them know they
employ an *** who wants to flagrantly violate traffic law and be
disrespectfull usually gets the job done.

For the most part, you all are a GREAT bunch of people. Ive had a long
LEO career and I have had a trucker stop more than once to help me when
Im alone on the side of the road fighting some idiot. I look forward
to joining your ranks in a few months after retirement. Be safe!!
