For reasons outlined elsewhere. Obvious reasons. Look, it takes x
dollars for housing, food, medical, other BASIC NECESSITIES. If a
working man has $5 leftover after paying for those things that he must
have in order to survive, and a Bill Gates has $20 million leftover per
week after paying for his outrageously expensive lifestyle, is it fair
that they both pay the same tax rate? Call it 10%: the poor man pays 50
cents of his remains; Gates pays $2 million but still has $18 million to
play with! This is FAIR????? And, your flat rate would not be based on
"after exemptions", it would be off gross earnings. Good God, man,
howinthehell can you think that this is FAIR??
It is not the millionairs fault that that working stiff only has $5
disposable income. How can you justify punishing success via excessive
taxation fair?
It is a matter of survival.
Why can't the matter of survival simply be people doing what is necessary to stand on their own two feet. I was emancipated at 16... Got a job, lived on my own, attended school, all without the aid of any form of public welfare. My Life wasn't the responsibility of ANYONE but myself. And the matter of my survival was my own... I refuse to believe that if a kid can do this in the middle of the 80's, there no reason it can't be done now.
When you make another person take care of you, it isn't survival, its dependence. And when a group of people (Political Party) DEMAND an open ended cornucopia of benefits be paid by the higher class, it is an admission of that party that they feel that the lower class is of "Lesser Stuff" than those of the higher class and will never make it on their own.
Can't you comprehend that basic fact?
I guess it depends on how you define survival Read the above.
And, in a myriad of ways, it is the millionaire's fault that the poor man has only five dollars.
Right, and its Americas fault that the Rest of the is a cesspool. It's the pollution of the richer countries that make the sewer systems of poorer countries are of a cleaner quality than their drinking water. That line you wrote above is the same "pass the buck" tripe that has been costing liberals seats in every branch of govt for years.
The most obvious would be...how much profit does the rich man pocket off each hour of the poor's man's labor?
Keep that in mind the next time you are offered a raise while the guy that works on your truck is not offered one... Tell your boss to give it to him. Keep in mind, you make more than he does, in his eyes, your richer than he is, and you are part of the problem that you are writing about.
Let's say his total workforce is 1,000. A $10 per week increase in each man's wages would cost the rich man only $10,000 of his $18,000,000 profit. Fair?
I guess that would depend on how "Rich" he is... Remember most business owners (your definition of rich according to your writings) are middle class.
Speaking of Drugs:
I just believe that the penalties should go to the people making the money off it, not the poor sumbitch trying to survive.
Holy crap, Something we both agree on, almost. I agree right up to the comma...
With the exception of medical marijuana, can you tell me which street drug helps the poor survive?
You combat drugs by combating the root causes. Are you aware that drug and all other crimes dropped precipitously during Clinton's years? Why?
Because the 80's were over Clinton's tax hikes got rid of all the expendable money that coke addicts had.... Clinton showed up, the party was over.. just a guess.
aFirst,
citizens are expected to be able to take care of all necessities of
daily family life--utilities, housing, food, clothing, health care,
transportation. Income above that level is fair game for
taxation--because income above that level is disposable income -- expensive dining out, fancy cars, plastic surgery, impressing the
neighbors with bigger homes and yachts.
Those in the middle income bracket generally earn just enough to "get
by." Those in the lower brackets (for whatever reason they are there)
cannot earn enough to provide for all the necessities; therefore, those
who earn excess (above necessity level) income, must provide help
thorugh taxation to the less fortunate. That is just the way it is insociety that wants to remain a functioning society.
Wrong... That's a society that believes that Dependency is survival. It isn't. I fully believe that there should be limited benefits for those who NEED it... the important words here is LIMITED and NEED. If a person can't get a good paying job, don't send him a box of Govt cheese for free, make him earn it by attending a training program, and/or proof that a search of a job was done since his last hand out.
Taxes ain't what's doing it. Maybe $4 gas is affecting them.
Liberals do not tax the working class--can't you comprehend that?
So when Al Gore was spouting that he wanted to see gas hit $3.00 a gallon all those years ago, he meant it only for the rich? Care to explain...
Why do the liberals that wanted Al Gore in office now complain that things are ending up the way Gore wanted them? $3.00+ for gas?
Clinton's tax increase was a TAX CUT for the middle class; his tax increase on the rich pulled us out of deficit spending for the first time in 200 years!
All those middle class business owners would probably disagree with you and your party lines... That would explain why the number of Liberal seats has been on the decline for years.
=A lousy buck for a lottery ticket?--you'd begrudge a poor stiff that
little dream?
The lottery is for people who do not understand basic math. It is also a
tax on the poor of their own doing.
It is also the only hope for millions of people. I won't begrudge a buck on a chance to become rich. I do begrudge states' and Feds championing casino gaming--because this truly is a steal of bread from the mouthes of everyone.
Well now I have to disagree with you again. I never saw a govt agent send someone into a casino at gunpoint. People enter of their own accord, and spend what they spend. If it's too much for them, then it is of their own choice and consequence.
You're not one of those people that think that the poor are also mentally weak are you? They gamble because they can't control themselves, They do drugs because they lack a little discipline? I got news for you... the first time anyone played blackjack it was by choice, the first time someone lit up, it was by their choice and no one else's. and addiction is reserved only for the poor... the rich have their vices as well.
Now I'm sure you'll say something to the effect that treatment of addiction should be a cost shared by all... Should ALL also pay for the riches addictions? They are after all a sad victim of the same tragedy of those less fortunate, why should the thickness of their wallet matter? And don't tell me that the rich can pay for treatment because they can, the reply is simple.. the poor can pay for the treatment of a "disease" they the caught by themselves BY CHOICE. They chose to pay for their addiction of choice, let them pay for the cure.
