Hello, I want a job in trucking! I want to say: "Willing and able to runhuh?
Canada/US"
Couple of obstacles in my way... I only have a BCDL Class 1L** (endorsement
code 15 'permitted to operate a vehicle with air brakes') and no truck.
Here's another obstacle: it looks as if I *won't* be getting any (Canada)
Skills Development training funds for this purpose.
So in the meantime I'll describe trucking, mastered: it's simply the
instantaneous movement of any given amount of material any distance in a
vehicle that costs nothing and uses no fuel and incidentally shows no signs
of wear from use. And so non-instantaneous transport requirements might
involve the provision of storage services. The instantaneous nature of the
ideal thus renders weather effects void, I suppose.
On this planet though, we use diesel and grease on metal and rubber. They
all wear out. I'd be a driver who would drive on the slower side, to save on
fuel and tires and maybe brakes and such. And arrive alive. I'd have to
leave a bit earlier to be able to do that. As long as I can stop for a bit
of hot tubby time along the way somewhere, I'll be able to cope. I'd also
find time in there to polish my DOT-C2 stickers, is that a good thing?
I'm in the lower mainland of BC, hopefully someone can help me out with
pointers to get some on-the-job training.
My son wants me to be a dump truck owner operator. I want a pony!
