I will put in my 2 cents here. First I have lost my sister and two close
friends from type one diabetes and saw each one of them go into an
unexpected reactions. It is a scary process.

The way it was described to me is that they are often not aware they are
slipping into the reaction in time to correct it. I suspect this fact is
the controling reason insulin dependent diabetics are not elegible for a
CDL.

The latest great promise is a cure through genetic engineering and stem cell
reaserch. Let us hope that the folks with the religious zelotry do not win
their battle to stifle this hope before it comes to fruition.
