Of course it would make things easier doing it legally.
But apparently the company didnt want their drivers to be logging and
wind up out of hours so they couldnt get home for the next day.
I did a short stint with a company once that had it's local drivers put
in 16 hours days regularly.
The local guy I rode with, we started at 0600 and returned to the yard
after 8 pm.
I know one local company in wisconsin I could easily get into trouble
with the DOT.
Their philosophy was "Dont get caught.".
2 of 3 brothers worked the officer during the day, then regularly drove
well over a 100 miles and back during the night.
Silghtly illegal? You bet.
Now they did use log books, but they had you fudge them just to make it
easier on them auditing them.
For every one that gets caught, you can bet 50 more are doing the same
thing.
