Absolutely. Low stress, lower fatigue, better frame of mind. Let *them* make all the lane changes.

Let's see now. Let's say that you drive 60 mph everywhere you go-- no stopping to eat, bathroom or fueling for ten hours of every day, and I drive 70 mph always (under the same rules). In 10 hours you will driver 600; I will drive 700. In seven days I will drive 4900 miles, while you drive 4200. Over the course of a year, that 100 miles per day difference is 36,500 miles-- a considerable amount of money to a company driver. In reality, the faster driver may not run that many extra miles: he may opt instead to use all those the extra hours in personal pursuits.

My wife and I complete Atl to LA runs (2100 miles more or less) in 37 hours, then load for a return trip ASAP. We break the speed laws every chance we get--but not by a lot (our truck is governed to a sedate 77). We stop twice per day for sit-down meals and we occasionally do some shopping while under a load; in other words, we don't HAVE TO keep the wheels rolling every minute in order to make a living and take some personal time. Likewise, when the speed zone is 25, we can slow down knowing that we can make the time loss up easily. All those slow 55 mph trucks run hammer-down through towns and school zones (55mph) because any time they lose is lost forever.

I'm happy as hell that many drivers choose to drive so slow. But don't waste your breath attempting to prove that the Swift way is better. Because it is not.
