There isn't a driver shortage. There are exactly the number of drivers the
current pay and conditions will attract.
If the National Association of Troll-Looking Dwarfs put out a press release
claiming a dire shortage of wealthy blonde supermodels willing to date the
ugly, would that be proof of such a shortage?
Some of you people anxiously await every crisis either to get a jump on
feeling sorry for yourselves or reinforce some internal despair. I'd like
to pit the 100,000 missing truck drivers with the 100,000 missing petroleum
engineers, with the 100,000 missing airline pilots, with the 100,000 missing
airline mechanics, with the 100,000 missing air traffic controllers, with
the 100,000 missing bio-tech engineers, with the 100,000 missing software
engineers, etc., etc., etc.
Panic early and avoid the rush, or you could just stop buying into every
crisis.
