Well, it's sorta nice to see that no one else understands
the new rule either. I read some of the stuff and it
implied that I could stretch my day to 21 hours if
I log 7 hrs in the sleeper while waiting for some holier
than thou shipper to load the truck. If it took him
6 hrs to load the truck then I can extend to 20 hrs.
That is what the rules seem to say. Things just got
worse. Short haul monkey shit and no pay for
sitting at loading docks is the order of the day.
Oh, I forgot. If the customer (out of the kindness
of his heart) wants to pay detention after stealing
two hours of your life then MAYBE you as a
driver MIGHT get a piece of it. These rules then
proceed to prevent the long haul driver from making
a living by forcing him to take yet another 8 hours
off even if he had already taken 7 hours kissing
the dock people's butt.
As usual it is "how can we _appear_ to be protecting
the public while ripping off the drivers at the company
level?"
.
