I think it's stupid.

(I am told it's actually unhealthy for dogs to put their heads out the
window because the wind dries out their eyes. But that should be left
up to the owner.)

(In the case cats, anyone who has a cat knows damn well the cat owns
you, not the other way around.)

I sort of compromise--I think it is a good idea to have a lead attached to reduce successful escape attempts, an use a reel, pay out a bit and lock it--toss the reel into the back of the Exploder and let the lead fall between the seat-backs. ...
