I was just reviewing some old Texaco signs when I saw a note that
it was a brand that once was marketed in all 50 states and Canada. I can't
think of a brand that fits that description now. After so many mergers
over the years, does anyone know of a gasoline brand that today is
marketed in all 50 states, or even the 48 continental states-- one that
will be seen as one travels on a highway almost anywhere in the USA?

The ones I feel like I've always seen, no matter where I went, are Chevron,
Mobil, Shell and Arco.

If you see Arco stations wherever you go, you don't travel much. Arco is
owned by BP, which bought Los Angeles-based Atlantic Richfield Company
in 2000. Now it's BP West Coast. They only operate in NV, CA, AZ and
maybe a couple other states.

FWIW, this wasn't always true. In the early 70's, I lived in South
Euclid, Ohio and there was an ARCO station there and in the Little Italy
neighborhood in Cleveland. Those are the only two I recall being in the
Cleveland area.
