I noticed when driving down to Baltimore yesterday, MDTA has posted the new
format mile markers on I-95 in Cecil County. However, on my return trip
northbound, I noticed some mile markers were left over in the median and
they did not correspond to the nearest "new" milemarker. In fact, they were
about 0.3 miles ahead of the new ones.
For example, there was a MM 100 marker in the median under the Exit 100
overpass. However, about 0.3 miles up the road was a new MM 100 on the
right side (with the I-95 shield).
This only occurred for a few miles and then the new markers began showing up
on both sides of the northbound lanes.
Did the unwinding of the I-695 interchange shorten the highway?
Don't know about your theory, but the same thing happened along US 20
in Waterloo. Original MM 230 is on one side of an overpass and new
median MM 230.0 is on the other side.
