Yes they are, almost all as pilot projects.
The only place on earth where I expect hydrogen-fueled cars to be a
large part of the general fleet in the next several decades is
Iceland. That's because they can use their geothermal heat to make
electricity to crack water into H and O. It takes far more energy to
make hydrogen fuel than you get from burning it in an IC engine, or
even from using onboard fuel cells to propel the vehicle. Hydrogen is
not a solution to energy usage; it may in time become a means of
providing a transportable fuel to replace gasoline.
True. But, at least the energy required is being contained within the
vehicle that is using it. It's not like making fuel at a refinery then
sending it out to be used elsewhere.
Which would you prefer be emitted from vehicles? Deadly gases or pure
clean water?
