Just because the I-40 signs go back to the old route doesn't mean the
traffic will.  The trucks in particular...who are the main cause of
the noise residents are complaining about...will stay on the loop if
they perceive a traffic or time advantage remains on the loop.

And there's nothing the noise-complainers or NCDOT can do about that
either....if they even realize it (and the article suggests they
don't).

Or they could completely ban truck traffic on the current I-40...

Note that I'm suggesting that they should do this, just something they
could do.
