This article is one in a series of articles contributed by Arizona
State University's Global Institute of Sustainability. The institute
advances interdisciplinary research and education on environmental,
economic and social sustainability.

Extremely sophomoric!

You obviously didn't read the bio... he's an (assistant) PROFESSOR! So
he's smart! And he doesn't have an agenda!

Yes he did have an agenda. He actually thinks you can prevent people
from
moving to where they can get a job. That approach does not work.
Restricting freeway capacity is not an approach that works.

He wants lots of alternative which almost always means everything about
cars. That means he has mental problem called being a "technology
laggard"
where the person has difficulty living in the present or thinking about
the
future.

Technology laggards just want to take society back to where it was many
decades ago. That approach never attracts more than a tiny percent of
commuters and massively expensive.

University professors are not known for their great ability to deal with
the
real world.

Some of us do, but urban planners hold the agenda and they are totally
against travel and the population concentration which has taken place in
the
last 100 years as we move AWAY from farms into cities.

I know that Professors do sometimes deal with the real world. In the SF
Bay area it is common for Professors to start companies to take advantage of
the research they have done. I think Cisco was started by a Stanford
Professor. He obviously did extremely well in the real world.
