Yes, I've had similar problems in Oregon -- and they are *incredibly* aggressive!
Just last year, I stopped at a gas station in Medford, got out and ran my card to pay at the pump and had just started pumping my gas when this guy came running up and tried to take over pumping for me! I loudly said "No thanks!" and was able to keep him at bay with a squeegee until the pump finally clicked off. He was very agitated and simply refused to take no for an answer, even til the very end.
BTW it's worth noting that they're not only aggressive in Oregon with this scam, but sophisticated -- they usually dress in some sort of uniform, knowing this is will likely cause more people to fall for their ruse.
