Mao say 'hi'.
Stalin - Communist, branch of socialism, a left wing concept
Pol Pot - Communist, branch of socialism, a left wing concept
Mao - Communist, branch of socialism, a left wing concept
Yea, Free Lunch fits right in with that group.

If you want to play the same game, Bush = Hitler.Using your yardstick. Show me the URL that says Bush pushed people
into gas shower. I can show proof that says he prevented hundreds
of thousands of people (including children) from dying in Iraqi
prisons.
political opponents to the gulag, etc.
Rich, while I disagree with you on many points, you are usually well
spoken and you usually present your arguments in a rational,
respectable manner. But here, you're way off the mark and you are
sounding like a shrill kook. Is it because neither presidential
candidate appeals to you? Well, welcome to my world circa 2004.
I am frustrated because I was told by someone who is very far left
that his position is the only one with any merit.
Then he's a "zealous left-winger". Not an "extreme left-winger". BIG difference.
If it was the
first time it had happened it would be one thing. But remember this
conversation I had with him less than one month ago?

I'll pull a couple of quotes from it:
>> Tony Snow's last job was to lie to the American people. That was aand:pretty scuzzy thing to do too. Did he ever apologize to us for the
lies he told?
You don't have to commit genocide to be extreme left. Free Lunch isI was comparing his death to Tony's. Both were involved in politics.Who condemns them as immoral??? YOU??? How DARE you bring up
Both died recently. Both behaved in ways that are generally
condemned as immoral. I still have sympathy for their families, but
that is all. If there were a hell, they would both have earned a
place in it.
morality. You hate, hate, hate, and then you say someone else is
immoral? Who are you to say what's moral and what isn't? What makes your moral
compass so much better than anyone else's? Lots of people would say
the life of Tony Snow and Jesse Helms were completely moral. You
disagree with them on political grounds and suddenly they're
immoral!?!?
far left in the same way as Howard Dean is far left.
Howard Dean far left? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Seriously, if these guys are "far left" then what do you call the despots that I've already mentioned?
And the most
aggravating part of it is anyone who brings it to light gets told they
are wrong. Well, I'm calling him on it. I called it on him then and
I'm calling him on it now. And if that makes me a shrill kook then so
be it. People are entitled to opinions, well thought out, that are
different than his. And that doesn't make them liars, or immoral or
sweat shop owners or writers for the funny pages. They just see
things differently and should be allowed to do so. He is supposed to
respect my position as much as I'm supposed to respect his and I
don't see that happening.
And having strong opinions doesn't mean you have extreme opinions. I wouldn't ever call you an "extreme right-winger" because it is simply untrue. And Free Lunch is far from an extremist as well.
Now see this is a matter of semantics and personal definitions
By my definition you can be a mass murdering dictator and not have extreme political views. That just make you a power hungry tyrant. Saddam Hussein falls into that category, as far as I know. To the best of my knowledge he didn't advocate socialism or other extreme far left views, nor did he advocate an ultra conservative agenda, like the Spanish Inquisition. Same for the Roman Emperors.
Apparently what I call extreme you call zealous. In my mind that means advocating a position at the far end of the spectrum of political thought, be it right or left. On the far left you have socialism and Communism and on the far right you have theocratic versions like the Taliban. Now either end of it can involve genocide, political prisoners and all that, but so can any position in the middle, as I pointed out in the previous paragraph.
And it would seem that Wikipedia shares my definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_left
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_right
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremism
Clear now?
Take care,
Rich
God bless the USA

Even though he's dead it makes about much sense
to vote for him as it does for the choices
that we have who are living. At least he's not
going change his position on anything.
