John you can take any selective data you like, some of which you were
mistaken on -- 94% of its high turnover staff is not covered by health
insurance. That claim is flat out mistaken.
Was printed in the Wall Street Journal about 3 weeks ago. It is
flat out a correct number. Wal-Mart would not publish it if it
were false because someone would figure out the real number and
make them look like fools. They are not that dumb.
<http://walmartstores.com/FactsNews/NewsRoom/7892.aspx> is the Hewitt
report that Walmart is selling, notice that Walmart covers only about
half of their employees. I really don't see any reason they should be
proud of the fact that some of their employees are on Medicaid.
So, if a guy works at Exxon and has a family health insurance
plan, and the wife works at Wal-Mart for some extra money to pay
for renting a house boat on Lake Powell, what is Wal-Mart supposed
to do? Force them to drop the Exxon plan and take the Wal-Mart plan? Fire the lady since she doesn't have the Wal-Mart plan?
The fact of the matter is that over 94% of the folks at Wal-Mart
are covered by a plan. That is far, far better than the retail
industry average, which is in the 70's. Wal-Mart is a leader
here.
Now, but only because unions made an effort to unionize. Before that,
Walmart was horrible. In addition, the company has been shown to fire or
refuse to hire people who are not up to their health standards and the
health coverage that they offer is better than nothing, but not
consistent with the coverage that executives get.

And yes, you should be proud that Wal-Mart hires folks who
are on Medicaid. Wal-Mart is a leader in hiring older folks
and those with developmental disabilities.
That's not medicaid. Medicaid is for the poor.

What, elderly can't be poor?

_All_ people 65 and older are covered by Medicare as are people who have
permanent disabilities per the Social Security Administration. Medicaid
is for the able-bodied poor.

In Missouri the elderly can get Medicare and Medicaid, depending on their financial situation. It has nothing to do with disabilities.

Even though he's dead it makes about much sense
to vote for him as it does for the choices
that we have who are living. At least he's not
going change his position on anything.
