I have noticed that Arizona now has new styles of license plates. They
are seven characters, in the "ABC1234" format. The letters and numbers
look like "California style" license plates. The new plates are flat
(no raised letters and numbers). A big cactus is on the left of the
standard plate. (This was also the case with the plates with the "123
ABC" format.)

Iowa switched from stamped to flat somewhere in the late J plates.
We're in the middle of the Ts now (of 000AAA) and have been working on
the series for just over 10 years, skipping I, O, and Q as first
letters.

Is this a new series for Arizona - as in, everyone with six-character
plates will need to get a new seven-character one - or will the old
ones still be valid?
