However, I always take drinks and snacks with me when traveling. I never buy
anything from those places except gas, and sometimes I'll stop in and use their
facilities and leave without buying anything.
Sinner! ;)
As one who has worked for 4 different c-stores, I'll usually try to buy something if I use the facilities. It may only be a can of soda, but I try to buy something to offset the water bill. :)
Prices are sometimes higher at convenience stores simply because they can't buy in mass quantities. However, I've noticed some chains (such as White Oak Station and E-Z Mart) are deliberately high... sometimes higher than the independents. I was even encouraged at times to price things higher than the suggested retail to offset shrink.
The prices they charge is determined by inconvenience. If you're there you will spend an extra half dollar, on a soda, instead of going, to a grocery store and buying it cheaper. The problem is now that all retailers are driven by Wall Street demands for 20% returns or whatever. Cost, on everything is becoming wildly inflated, at the same tine the currency is highly devalued. That means costs will continue, to inflate, for Americans as foreign economies are more stable and have some real value. The Globalist dream is coming to fruitation, of devaluing our economy to match the rest of the third world so that everyone becomes a viable consumer to enlarge their wealth. The Market has little relation to reality of our pockets. Their pockets are a different thing.
It can no longer be said what is good for Wall Street is longer good for America. America is an obstacle to the Market. They are ripping it apart for their profits.
Globalist are making decisions, for their pockets, not for philanthropy or the good of Americans our Republic. they do not operate on moral basis. Their only moral imperative is maximum profits, for their pockets. Their lies are just a very useful tool of the media that a lot of people keep believing.
